I have long had a passion for bondage – and consider it to be one of the core fetishes that we encounter in the world of BDSM. One of my bondage submissives who has been serving me for a long time has commented that my style has changed – that I used to do a lot more rope bondage but now it’s far more inescapable and more focussed on device, leather and metal bondage.
There are a couple of reasons for this – probably the main one though is when I was first setting up my dungeon I was poor! Well – not poor exactly – but I certainly didn’t have the same advantages I have now in terms of awesome loyal client base and the years in which to shop, collect and curate an impressive collection of the world’s best bondage gear.
Which absolutely includes metal for me…. There is nothing like the total cold restrictiveness of metal bondage – nothing that says captive like being chained or behind bars or both!

I have collected a lot of different pieces from authentic colonial era manacles that a sub of mine found in an antique store, to heavy iron shackles and thick matching collar that padlocks securely to lighter shiny chromed collar and restraints that look perfect when combined with a tight latex catsuit for full bondage enclosure. Of course meters of heavy chain will be locked in place as well – I love the versatility of chains – but also how they are a part of our earliest bondage fantasies “chained up” seems so much more final and severe than “tied”. Knots may come untied, rope may loosen but once the locks click into place you know that you will remain chained in place until I return with the key!
But beyond the wrist/ankle/neck and chains I have collected some more unusual pieces many of which have been custom made for me to the specifications of my devious imagination! Cages of course are a part of metal bondage for me and include my amazing suspendable ball cage and the classic standing cage… I have an intense “fiddle” restraint that holds the hands out as if begging for mercy 😉 but my newest piece just arrived from Fetters in the UK.
You can see it in the photo above – it’s a head cage that locks securely with an allen key so that the subject’s head is encased in bars… I’ve always believed that restraining the head is a key facet of making bondage truly restrictive and this heavy cage certainly takes that to the next level. I’ve played with it combined with other leather or metal bondage – but it also works in a particularly intense way by itself – attached from above – your arms and legs may be free but with your head locked inside a cage and secured there really isn’t a lot of escaping to be done!
With my trip to DomCon in LA fast approaching (I leave in just over a week – yikes) I’m certain that I will be checking out the vendors area to see what catches my eye! But even more so – getting to visit the beautiful LA and San Diego dungeons of my friends and colleagues will give me more metal bondage items to add to my virtual shopping list!
